Last night I got discouraged with all the political news, so I watched The Walker a movie about a gay man with a fine southern upbringing, son of a prominent Washington politician, who escorts rich Washington, DC, women to social events. It stars Woody Harrelson (!), Kristin Scott Thomas, Lauren Bacall and Lily Tomlin, among others.
It’s ostensibly a murder mystery (the victim is the secret lover of one of the women), but it’s really more a character study about a man who is unhappy in his life, despite having a lot of money, and the damage that politics and gossip does to people. It’s a very unusual, low-key movie. I liked it.
