The Popularity Dialer

David Pogue, the technology columnist for the New York Times. recently posted on his blog about a new service called the Popularity Dialer. The free service allows you to go to a web site and set up calls that will be made to you on your cell phone at times that you determine, especially when you want to impress someone.

At first glance it’s hilarious, but the more I think about it, the more depressing I find it, that people have to stoop to having a computer dial their phone in order to boost their feelings of self-worth in the eyes of others.
