This past Sunday, December 5th, was the annual “CircleFest” for the holidays, sponsored by Cleveland’s University Circle Inc. All of the cultural institutions in University Circle open free of charge, including those that are more outlying, and there are numerous special events.
For the first time, Euclid Avenue Congregational Church participated fully in CircleFest this year. We had church members available to talk about the stained glass windows and the history of the church, and I played thirty-minute “mini-recitals” on the organ on the hour at 2:00, 3:00, 4:00 and a mini-mini-version at 5:00. We had over fifty people visit the church–not bad for the first time. We can build on that next year.
I confess that I was exhausted by the end of the day, after playing for a long church service in the morning, and then the equivalent of two full organ recitals in the afternoon.
