This article in today’s New York Times (Streaming Onto the Movie Screen, With Nary a Scratch) describes how the new digital movie projectors work. I’m told that the only place in Cleveland that has one of these devices is the Cinemark Theaters in Valley View. I think they’ll be showing the new Star Wars movie there, so it may be worth going to check it out. What an amazing transformation of technology, to go from those huge spools to a DVDóor nothing, if they just download the movie over a satellite downlink or broadband connection into a server in the theater.
