It should be an opera, or a movie, or at least a novel by Joyce Carol Oates: the police discover a twenty-inch mummified corpse of an infant (or perhaps a fetus) locked in a cedar chest in the house of two sisters, where they had lived their whole lives. The sisters are now both dead, as is their father who lived with them and two other siblings. The only surviving relative, a niece, has no idea what the story is. Here’s a link to the story in the New York Times.
